New Menus May 2017

One of our Roast DinnersWe are pleased to announce that we have reviewed all our menus and have introduced new spring menus with effect from Friday 9th May 2017.  There are some excellent new items but we haven’t dropped your old time favourites.
Regrettably due to the increasing cost of food, the new minimum wages, staff pension etc some of  prices have had to go up but we have tried to keep these to a minimum and this is our first increase for 3 years.  Even with these increases our prices remain extremely competitive for this area.  In addition we have a specials board which changes daily.

As before we welcome any feedback and suggestions you may have that we can consider for future menus or ideas for our specials board.

Seen at GBBF at Olympia on Tuesday

GBBF 2016Simon and Kevin, his father in law, had an interesting day on Tuesday at the Great British Beer Festival in Olympia. They also visited some historic pubs starting with the Blackfriars, a historic Art Nouveau Grade II masterpiece built in 1905 on the site of a Dominican friary. Jolly friars appear everywhere in the pub in sculptures, mosaics and reliefs.  This wonderful pub was saved from demolition by a campaign led by Sir John Betjeman.
They then had the pleasure of visiting the medieval ancient cells below the Viaduct Tavern opposite the Old Baily, which is on the site of Newgate Prison, finishing off at Ye Old Mitre  near Hatton Garden, built in 1547 and said to have hosted Elizabeth I dancing with Sir Christopher Hatton.

On seeing this a board Kevin wondered whether Simon was thinking of a new range for the White Lion.

Esme completes Prudential Ride London 2016

Esme Completes Ride London 2016Simon and Nina’s daughter Esme, together with her boyfriend Jason, took part if the Prudential Ride London 100 mile cycle race last Sunday and both finished in just under 6hours.

In completing the race Esme raised £1000 through sponsorship for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of her late grandmother Vera and she would like to thank everyone who supported her.

When the idea of taking part was first mentioned she wondered if she could do it but threw herself into the venture which gusto, doing longer and longer practice rides to increase her fitness.

UEFA Euro 2016 at White Lion

Euro 2016We will be showing all the home country’s internationals at this year’s Euro 2016 Championship in France and then all the matches from the quarter finals onwards.  Let’s hope we can look forward to seeing our three home nations through into the quarter finals and in particular Wales.

With the evening kick off times it just gives you time to have a nice evening meal with us and then settle down to the excitement of the match; alternatively just come and enjoy a drink with friends and follow your home team’s fortune.

New J2O flavours

J20 new flavoursWe have extended our range of Britvic J2O flavours by adding Flamingo Fling which is grape and lychee plus from the new Spritz range Peach & Apricot.

The Spitz range we are told is a bid to bring more excitement and choice to adult soft drinks.  This new premium variant is positioned as “more sophisticated” and “lighter in taste”.  Other Spritz flavours include Apple & Watermelon and Pear & Raspberry.

Why not call in and try these exciting new flavours and let us know your thoughts.
